Refractive Surgery Evaluations and Surgery

What is Refractive Surgery? Refractive Eye Surgery is a procedure that corrects a refractive error in your vision. Nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia are examples of refractive vision errors. The most common choice to correct these conditions is the LASIK procedure.

This laser-assisted surgical procedure reshapes the cornea, reducing or eliminating a patients need for glasses or contact lenses. During an evaluation exam, your Eye Group of Mississippi doctor will examine your eyes and determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. We are proud to offer Z-LASIK eye surgery to our patients.

Z-LASIK is a bladeless alternative to traditional LASIK procedures. The doctor will use the laser to create an extremely thin flap in the cornea and corrects nearsightedness and astigmatism by gently reshaping the cornea and improving it’s focusing capabilities. The benefits to Z-LASIK eye surgery include:

  • Faster recovery of vision
  • Shorter procedure time
  • Thinner flaps - correcting higher degrees of refractive visual errors
  • Reduced risk of post operative dry eyes

There are risks involved in every surgical procedure and there are no guaranteed results. It’s important to discuss the Z-LASIK procedure with your Eye Group physician.
